Daily Activities and Assignments:
Class
Starters
A vocabulary
or grammar exercise will be on the board for you to complete. You have approximately 7 minutes after the
tardy bell rings to complete this. At
the end of the week, you will staple these exercises together and turn them
into your class's tub for a grade.
Grammar
Mini-lessons
Every Monday
we will cover objectives from the Graduation Exam . You will complete exercises or quizzes to
show mastery in these areas.
Literature
Lessons
Daily we will
take notes and hold discussions on British history and literature. You will be expected to read the material
before coming to class. We will only
read selected parts in class. You will
be assessed on this material through tests or projects.
We will work
in this forum on a daily basis. This is
where responsibility is paramount. You
will be given a list of assignments to complete by the end of the year. You
must follow all rules and guidelines to get credit for the essays you must
complete. At the end of the year you will compile most of your writing in a
book.

These

Most used bookstores will have copies.
The library may have old copies for a dollar. I noticed Amazon.com had used copies for as
little as 50 cents. The reading will be mostly done independently. You will have approximately 4 weeks to read
each. We will have book talks and checks
every week.
Classroom
Policies:
Please see the Jefferson County Code of Conduct
for attendance guidelines. Any absence
that is deemed “unexcused” will be documented and you will get a 0 for all work
on that date. After 5 unexcused
absences, you will fail the class.
When you are absent, it is your responsibility
to check the make up work notebook or the website. Any notes missed are your
responsibility. You must get them from
another student. If you are absent on
the due date of a previously assigned project, it is due on the day of your
return. Tests will be made up from
7:15-8:00 on Wednesday mornings. You will have to sign up to take any missed
tests. If you do not attend this, you
will get a zero on that test.
If you are tardy to class, you will sign the
tardy notebook on my desk. After 5 tardies, your parents will be contacted.
Please take care of this between classes. In case of an emergency or desperate need to
go back to get an assignment, you will have to use your bathroom pass. You only get 4 punches on the pass. You can turn it in unused at the end of the
year for 20 points added to your lowest test.
Discipline
I do not anticipate discipline problems. We will be doing group work. It is your responsibility to have a good
attitude and be cooperative with your group members. The most common problem is being off task and
talking or not bringing materials to class.
All infractions will be documented and sent to the office. Do not let this happen to you.
